360 Degree Brand Stewardship is a method for consistently managing the customer's experience of a brand, regardless of when, or where, the experience takes place. It is a set of beliefs, practices, and techniques for getting inside each brand we care for, and finding out what makes it tick.
360 DEGREE BRAND STEWARDSHIP CONSISTS OF THREE PRIMARY STAGES:
- Discovery. Defining the essence of the brand is always the first step. Through an information-gathering process called the Brand Audit, we find out what customers really feel about the brand, setting down the intangible cluster of feelings, impressions, hopes, and memories that form the customer's perception of the brand. We put this actual experience of a brand in the life of the brand. We put this actual experience of a brand in the life of a user into words-in what we call the BrandPrintTM. This definition is the starting point for all future brand-building activities.
- Strategy and Planning. Now we assess what the brand needs to do next, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the brand. We identify the brand's key audiences and determine how well those audiences really understand the brand-the Brand Scan. We map out critical "moments of truth" where the customer and the brand interact, and find ways to ensure that the brand shines at these pivotal moments.
- Execution. Turning insight and strategy into work is the next step. Besides getting to the core of the customer/brand relationship, there is nothing more important than coming up with the big Brand Idea that anchors and drives all our communications-TV commercials, web sites, direct mailings, public relations campaigns and so on-reinforcing the brand each time customers interact with it.
